Plunk Everyone

Exactly 4000 pitches were thrown in yesterday’s collection of MLB games, and only 5 of them hit batters for official Hit by Pitches.  One of those was John Lackey‘s 102nd career plunk.  He holds the Angels career record, and he’s tied for the 2nd most plunks thrown since the beginning of the 2002 season.  He hit Oswaldo Arcia for his first major league plunking, making him the 564th batter to take at least one HBP for the Twins franchise (including their years as the Senators).

Also yesterday, Drew Storen hit Kyle Blanks with a pitch, making that the 100th plunk ever thrown by a Washington Nationals pitcher to a San Diego Padres batter.  (That includes when the Nationals were the Expos).
