Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy hit 3 Brewers last night, including Prince Fielder for his 19th plunk of the season.  That ties him with Rickie Weeks for the league lead because Weeks was left out of the plunkings.  The Brewers had been 4-0 in games when they’ve gotten hit by pitches 3 times, but they lost that one.  Overall this year, teams that get hit by at least 3 pitches are 15-5.  The Brewers have been hit at least 3 times in 5 different games this year – they need 3 more games like that to break the post-1920 record for 3 plunk games in a season.  Fielder and Weeks need one plunk each to become the first pair of teammates with 20 plunks each since Doc Gessler and Kid Elberfeld of the 1911 Senators.

Brett Wallace got hit by a pitch for the Astros, marking the 650th plunk in Minute Maid Park history.  The Astros have now been hit 20 times this season – keeping the Astros 1 plunk ahead of Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder.

Kerry Wood threw his first HBP as a Yankee, becoming the 489th Yankee pitcher to hit a batter, and throwing the 748th plunk in a Red Sox/Yankees game since the sale of Babe Ruth.

Juan Pierre extended his Alabama HBP record to 82 plunks by registering the 978th plunk in the history of Orioles Park at Camden Yards.
