Aramis Ramirez was hit for the 108th time in his career yesterday, taking his 38th plunk at Wrigley Field. That extends the Wrigley Field park record for getting hit by pitches, which Ramirez has held since 2011. 108 plunks put Ramirez in 62nd place in plunk history, tied with Mo Vaughn and Bill Joyce.
John Lackey threw number 107 of his career, hitting Yankee outfield Brett Gardner. Lackey has hit the Yankees 16 times, leading all active pitchers in the category of Yankee plunking. If you had a fantasy league where the only stat that counted was hit batters against the Yankees, Lackey is always a good choice. 107 career plunks put him in 68th place on the all time list, tied with Ed Reulbach.
Shane Victorino extended his AL lead in HBPs to 16, taking a plunk from David Huff. Huff had never hit a batter in the majors, and is the 510th Yankee ever to throw a plunk. Victorino has now been hit 5 times in September, in just 7 games.
