In Pittsburgh yesterday, Starling Marte improved his 2013 plunk total to 21 by not avoiding a 90mph 6th inning pitch from Will Harris. He’s two plunks behind Shin-Soo Choo for the major league lead, and 10 plunks away from tying the Pirates singles season record.

Aramis Ramirez had his plunk total contributed to by Mat Latos, bringing him to 106 for his career. That ties him with Barry Bonds for 67th place in major league plunk history.

John Lackey threw the 106th plunk of his career, hitting Chris Stewart. That was the 6th plunk Lackey has ever thrown in the 7th inning or later, and the 15th time he’s plunked a Yankee. 106 ties Lackey with David Cone and Earl Moore.
