Rickie Weeks has now been plunked 17 times by the Chicago Cubs, and twice by Matt Garza. Garza plunked Weeks in the 3rd inning with a 92.6mph pitch. With 112 career plunks, Weeks now has sole possession of 54th place on the all time list for career HBPs, and he has moved ahead of Luis Gonzalez for 8th place among batters with the astrological sign Virgo. He’s the 18th batter ever to get hit 112 times for a single team, and he’s been hit 55 times at Miller Park now. Garza is the 9th 29 year old pitcher to plunk Weeks.

Austin Jackson got plunked for the first time this season, breaking a streak of 468 plate appearances without an HBP. Adrian Beltre broke a 344 plate appearance plunkless streak as well yesterday.
