2012 Brewers are best Brewers team ever (at getting hit by pitches)

Carlos Gomez took a 7th inning plunk from Tim Hudson last night, bringing the Brewers season total to 83 HBPs.  That’s the most plunks in a single season by any Brewers team.  Gomez has been the target of 7 of those 83 plunks, and two of Gomez’s 7 plunks this year have been thrown by pitchers named Tim.  Tim Hudson has now hit 107 batters in his career, which puts him in 67th place on the all time hit batters list, tied with Ed Reulbach.  Hudson has hit 60 batters for the

Carlos Ruiz got hit by a pitch for the 15th time this season, leaving him one plunk behind Carlos Quentin for the 2012 major league lead in plunks.  He’s tied for 2nd in the majors with Carlos Fielder.  Or Prince Fielder rather.  Ruiz hadn’t been hit since July 17th, and missed most of August with an injury.  Overall this season, players named Carlos have been hit 58 times, leading all first names.  The single season record for plunks by players named Carlos is 61, last season.
