Peavy throws 60th

August 14th, 2012 by pbr

Jake Peavy threw his 60th and 61st career plunk yesterday, hitting Anthony Gose and Kelly Johnson of the Blue Jays. The plunk to Gose was his first since joining the big leagues, and it was also the 200th plunk ever recorded in a White Sox-Blue Jays game.

Corey Hart became the 10th most plunked batter in Brewers history when Jeff Francis hit him in the 2nd inning yesterday. He’s been hit 42 times in his career, all with the Brewers, and that moves him ahead of Jeff Cirrillo on the Brewers all time list. Also in that game, Will Harris made his major league debut, and didn’t hit anybody until the 3rd batter he faced. He hit Travis Ishikawa, and that was the 50th time a Rockies pitcher has plunked a Brewer.

Greg Van Horn of Pioneer League Rockford Riverhawks had 4 hbp in one game on thursday 8/16. Looks like this would be a MLB record?

Would it be a MiLB record too?

Nobody has ever done 4 in a major league game. I think I’ve heard of 4 plunk games in the minors, but I don’t have proof of one handy. I do know that Carlos Quentin got hit 5 times in a college game – Stanford vs Florida State Feb 9, 2002
