Cueto hits 10th of ’12

Johnny Cueto became the first pitcher of the 2012 season to reach the 10 hit batters mark after a two plunk effort yesterday against the Padres.    He hit Chase Headley in the first inning, and Jason Marquis in the 5th.  That’s the 2nd time in his career that Cueto has hit a pitcher, but Jason Marquis is the active leader in hitting other pitchers with pitches, with 4.

Also in that game, Scott Rolen picked up career plunk number 126.  He’s now tied with Aaron Rowand for 41st place on the all time HBP list.  Luke Gregerson threw that one.

Travis Hafner collected his 82 career plunk yesterday, increasing his Indians franchise record total.  That was the 2nd plunk of his career from James Shields.
