Kinsler gets 4th place on the Rangers HBP list for his 30th birthday

Ian Kinsler was the most plunked batter born in June 22nd before yesterday, but he extended that record with a birthday plunking from Christian Friedrich of the Rockies. For his 30th Birthday, Kinsler has received sole possession of 4th place on the Rangers list for career HBPs, moving ahead of Mark Teixeira. That was number 43 of Kinsler’s career, and he’s 11 plunks behind Rafael Palmeiro for the Rangers career record for getting hit by pitches. Kinsler is the first player this year to get plunked on his birthday, and the 2nd straight Ian to get a birthday plunk. Ian Desmond was the last recipient of an HBP on his birthday, on September 20, 2011.

Brandon Belt, Will Middlebrooks and Mike Moustakas were all among yesterday’s plunked batters, which made June 22, 2012 the first day ever where 3 batters born in 1988 were hit by pitches.

Kevin Millwood threw his 74th HBP, and Nick Johnson was hit for the 74th time, but Johnson got hit by Jordan Zimmerman, and Millwood hit Yonder Alonso.
