Carlos Quentin picked up another HBP yesterday, leaving him just 1 plunk short of the 100 HBP club. His 99th was thrown by Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt, who was the 2nd pitcher born in Arizona to plunk Carlos Quentin. Quentin has now been hit 13 times in the 8th inning, and yesterday’s was his 3rd career plunk as a pinch hitter.

Randy Wolf also moved closer to the 100 plunk mark, throwing his 98th plunk yesterday. Wolf hit David DeJesus, who has now collected 87 plunks.

Mark Reynolds and Kurt Suzuki both picked up HBPs yesterday, and those were the 997th and 998th plunks ever recorded by batters born in 1983.

Clay Buchholz hit Reynolds, and Ryan Flaherty bringing his own plunk total to 7 this season, and pushing the Red Sox to a league leading 31 plunks thrown this year.
