Colby Rasmus got hit my a pitch on May 6, 2010 by Chad Durbin, and then he spent his next 1,150 plate appearances avoiding every pitch thrown anywhere near him. Going into yesterday, he had the 6th longest active plunkless streak in the league, but that didn’t matter to Clay Buchholz or the 2nd inning pitch he threw yesterday. Rasmus did not get out of the way of that one, and now he has 5 career HBPs.
Kyle Kendrick threw his 35th career plunk yesterday, hitting Byran Peterson. That was Kendrick’s 20th plunk at Citizen’s Bank Park, and he’s the first pitcher to reach that total at the Phillies newish home park.
