Choo ties major league lead with 5th

Shin-Soo Choo got his 5th plunk of the year in last night’s game against Minnesota, tying him with the league lead with Minnesota outfielder Josh Willingham. That HBP was also the 4100th plunk in Cleveland Indians history.

Francisco Cordero of the Blue Jays hit Rays infielder Will Rhymes, making that the 100th time the Jays have hit the Rays with a pitch. That was Rhymes’ first career HBP, after 352 plunk free plate appearances.

Russell Martin picked up the 40th plunk of his career, making him the 4th player born in Ontario Canada to reach that mark. He’s tied for 3rd place in Ontario history with Jack Graney.
