Juan Pierre extended his record for most plunks by a batter born in Alabama to 96 last night, when he was plunked by Scott Maine (who was born in Florida).

Yu Darvish, Junichi Tazawa and Hiroki Kuroda each hit a batter yesterday, making it just the 2nd day ever on which three different pitchers born in Japan hit a batter. The other time was August 8, 2000 when Mac Suzuki, Kaz Sasaki and Craig House hit batters.

In Miami, Patrick Corbin made his major league debut, and hit Austin Kearns with the 13th pitch he threw. Kearns now has 70 career HBPs.

Clay Buchhulz hit Cliff Pennington of the A’s, and that was the 600th plunk ever recorded by a batter born in 1984. Chris Parmalee’s plunk from C.J. Wilson was the 50 time a batter born in 1988 has been hit by a pitch. The 1988 batch of major leaguers is 6 plunks behind the 1989 group.
