Players who have the largest share of their birthday plunks

Friday, February 22nd, 2013

If you’ve read tomorrow’s post about the most plunked batters born on February 23rd, you might have noticed that Ron Hunt 243 HBPs account for 51.8% of all the HBPs recorded by players born on February 23rd.  But that probably left you wondering, or will leave you wondering, or will have left you wondered (stop time traveling – it’s bad for grammar), who has the largest percentage of the HBPs recorded by players who share a single birthday?  Below is the list of all the players who have collected at least 40% of all the pitches that have hit players who share their birthday.  And the winner is, surprisingly, Grady Sizemore.  He’s been hit 65 times, but the other players born on August 2nd have only been hit 30 times.  So he has collected 68.4% of the plunks distributed to players born on August 2nd.
