Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

Jason Frasor has only hit 20 batters in his career, but he’s managed to work Mark Teixeira into his plunking schedule twice now. Frasor threw Teixeira’s 94th career plunk in the 8th inning of yesterday’s Yankees-Blue Jays game. Frasor threw Teixeira’s 31st career plunk on July 8, 2005. Teixeira has now extended his record for plunks at new yankee stadium to 24.

Twins rookie Brian Dozier got his first major league plunk yesterday, making him the 560th player to take a plunk for the Twins franchise.

Rick Porcello broke the all time career record for hitting Erick Aybar with pitches yesterday, when he became the first pitcher ever to hit Erick Aybar twice. Porcello first hit Aybar on August 8, 2010, but he was tied at 1 plunk of Erick Aybar with 26 other pitchers, until yesterday. Aybar is tied with Asdrubal Cabrera for the career record in getting hit by Rick Porcello.
