Ramon Santiago gets half way to 100 plunks

Sam Freeman threw his first plunk as a major league pitcher last night, making him the 630th pitcher to hit at least one batter for the St. Louis Cardinals franchise. He hit Ramon Santiago, and for Santiago it was career plunk number 50. He’s the 418th player to get hit by 50 pitches, and the 20th born in the Dominican Republic to reach that milestone.

Corey Hart picked up his first RBI plunk, and his 40th overall, when Jesse Chavez plunked him in the 3rd inning. He’s the 11th Brewer to get hit by 40 pitches.

Andruw Jones got his 94th career plunk, on a pitch from Eric O’Flaherty, and Carlos Pena picked up his 65th, getting hit by Ross Detwiler.
