They’re trying to shut us down.

Nine games, 2,457 pitches yesterday. Did the games not count? Did the players just not care if they won or lost yesterday? Or was there something else going on? It’s a little hard not to take this personally.
NOBODY got hit by a pitch yesterday, even though 9 major league games were played. There haven’t been that many games played in one day with no one at all getting hit by a pitch since October 2, 1992 – nearly 20 years ago.

Well fine, if that’s the way your going to be about it, I can roll with it.

Derek Jeter hit 13 foul balls yesterday, bringing his season foul ball total to 103. That’s the third highest foul ball total in the league behind Freddie Freeman and Josh Reddick. Freeman has 119 foul balls this year, with 2 yesterday, and Reddick has 106 but he was off yesterday. And while Jeter had time to hit 13 foul balls, he totally failed to get hit by any pitches. No batter has hit more than 13 foul balls in a single game this year, and only Jeter, Freeman and Joey Votto have had a 13 foul game.
Paul Konerko hit 9 foul balls against the Indians, bringing his season foul ball total to 75. That’s the 2nd most fouls a White Sox batter has hit in a single game this year, but Adam Dunn hit 11 foul balls on April 9th. Both of those games were against the Indians.
