Jamey Wright joins top 25 in career hit batters

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Jamey Wright can now say he’s as good a pitcher as Pedro Martinez, at least in the category of hitting batters with pitches. Wright threw the 141st plunk of his career last night when he hit Alcides Escobar, which moves him into a tie for 25th place on the all time hit batters list. That’s as many plunks as Pedro Martinez and Ed Doheny threw in their careers. Wright has hit 47 more batters than any other pitcher born in Oklahoma.

Brandon Phillips got his 50th career HBP when Greg Reynolds hit him in the 9th inning.

BACON race update:
Jacoby Ellsbury – .836
Robinson Cano – .829
Miguel Cabrera – .818
Jose Reyes – .817
Ryan Braun – .815
